The Alappuzha lighthouse is one of the oldest lighthouses on the south-west coast of the country and is a major tourist attraction in Alappuzha. 

It is constructed during 1862, which serves as the path guide to the ships and local fisherman as it is a good spot of sightseeing.

Constructed with traditional materials, it has 30-meter height and at the top, there is a platform where max 20 -25 people can at a time stand on the top. This is cylindrical in shape and as the alternate red and white bands on its exterior.

On climbing its teakwood spiral staircase to the open-top balcony one will get the best view of the sea and surrounding places of Alleppey beach.

This the place is open throughout the year and can be visited anytime but still if you prefer the best time then you should make your plan from September to March. This lighthouse remains open from 3:00pm to 5:00 pm for sightseeing so just check the lighthouse time before visiting this place.
